Mafalda Ramos is a Portuguese flautist. She studied Historical Performance at the Royal College of Music London (BMus(hons) and MMus), where she was a scholar. She happily embraces flutes of different times and origins, playing a number of simple system, traditional and modern flutes, as well as recorders.
She is especially interested in Brazilian Music, performing various styles in myriad contexts, from samba to forró, choro, samba-jazz and bossa nova. She regularly works with Mario Bakuna, Felippe Oliveira and Beloved George amongst other prominent musicians in the Brazilian Music scene in the UK. As an orchestral musician, she plays in a variety of period orchestras in the UK and Europe, having worked with Laurence Cummings, Orquestra Barroca Casa da Musica, The Brook Street Band, London Handel Orchestra and others. She works regularly with Kah-Ming Ng as part of his ensemble Charivari Agreable and has often participated in Exeter College Oxford's Summer "Music by Candlelight" festival. |
Alongside a busy performing career, Mafalda is an enthusiastic music teacher, working in individual and collective settings, from schools to private lessons.
